Veneers are very thin pieces of tooth-shaped porcelain, custom made by a professional dental laboratory to match the shape and color of your smile. We bond them onto the front of your teeth to give you a look that feels natural and looks beautiful.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and your smile. They can often be a comfortable alternative to crowns and are a great solution for many cosmetic concerns.
As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement. They are designed to last many years with proper care, helping you enjoy a confident smile for a long time.
Reasons for porcelain veneers:
- Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
- Crooked teeth.
- Misshapen teeth.
- Severely discolored or stained teeth.
- Teeth that are too small or large.
- Unwanted or uneven spaces.
- Worn or chipped teeth.
What does getting porcelain veneers involve?
Getting veneers usually takes two comfortable visits, and most patients need little or no anesthesia. At the first visit, we gently buff and shape the surface of your teeth just enough to make room for the veneer. We then take an impression of your teeth, and you and Dr. Isom choose the shade together so your new smile looks just right.
At the second visit, we prepare your teeth with a cleaning solution that helps the veneer bond securely. We apply a bonding cement between your tooth and the veneer, then use a special curing light to harden the bond and lock everything in place. That light triggers a chemical reaction that sets the cement quickly and firmly.
Before you leave, we will go over simple care instructions. Regular brushing, flossing, and visits with our team will help your veneers look great for years to come.
